About

“I believe that every person has value, innate resources, and the capacity to learn and grow, so every story has hope.”

So who am I? I’m a daughter, a sister, a friend, a long-time careerwoman, then a wife and a mother. I’ve experienced both emotional and medical trauma and know personally the struggle and the journey to recovery. I’m someone who cares deeply about the world we live in, and wants to do what I can to leave it a little better than how I found it. While I’ve always been fascinated by other people’s stories and their experiences that differ from mine, living for a time in a cross-cultural context really drove home our human commonalities as well as the profound difference that culture (globally, community, religious or family-based) can have on how we experience life and what opportunities we perceive. I returned to Canada with an understanding that virtually everything we do is a choice, if only we learn to recognize the power we have to do something different. For me this gives me the ability to find hope in virtually every situation, and to hold that hope for my clients until they can find their options too.

Professionally, I have been practicing as a clinical counsellor since 2010, primarily in a non-profit and a government mental health outpatient agency, and as such have extensive experience with a wide range of clients and issues including trauma and abuse (PTSD), anxiety, depression, personality disorders, bipolar, and psychosis. I hold a Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and bring this systemic approach into my work whether I am working with a couple, a family or an individual who has (or wants to have) important relationships in their life. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the B.C. Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC).

What I want you most to understand is that I LOVE my job! I am passionate about helping others discover a deeper understanding of who they are in the midst of their challenges, and utilizing the unique strengths that lie within each person to help them create lives that they in turn can be passionate about. I believe that every person has value, innate resources and the capacity to learn and grow, and thus every story has hope. I feel honored to join my clients on the journey to make this hope a reality.
